lasers at Lennox middle school
BY NATHAN DURAN
Did you know that lasers can cut things like metal and wood? There are some classes in lennox middle school about laser cutters. We focus mainly on video training segments of 10 to 15 minutes. It's the easiest way to communicate.
"We hope the students can take the furniture home," said Mr. Hernandez. He also said students will learn that the workflow needed to design simple two dimensional product.
The lasers can burn wood into shapes and you can make a wood box out of wood. I learned that you can make creative things out of wood with a laser cutter.
Cougars and polar bears
BY LEONOR MUNOZ PEREZ & MERALI LETICIA CHAVEZ
Did you know that polar bears' and cougars' habitats are being destroyed? The problem of this is that they are going extinct and we should start helping them.
Some examples of cougars’ habitats getting destroyed are the building of freeways, they are run over looking for their mates. The website Defenders.org said there are about 30,000 cougars left in the world. There are about 200-250 dying every year. "When it comes to polar bears, there are 500-600 that are dying each year," said the website EcoWatch. They are dying because their habitat is melting and their food is disappearing. There are only 20,000-25,000 left in the world.
Since we did research about how they are dying, we also wanted to figure out how to help. We can be more attentive. Another way is to learn more about them. A specific way to help cougars is to try to slow down on the freeway when we are in the mountains and put up signs. A specific way to help polar bears is to stop polluting the air because it’s making the air hotter and it’s melting the ice.
From all of this, the main idea is that cougars and polar bears’ habitats are disappearing and we should start helping them. We learned that cougars and polar bears habitats are disappearing and if we don’t help them they are going to be extinct and that could be a serious problem.

LASERs on campus
BY RICARDO LUIS ANDRES
Lennox middle school has an engineering class. While doing research, I learned that teachers are trying to have students solve their problems with technology. The class wants the students to learn and not just build.
"Pay attention to do the right tasks,” said Mr. Hernandez. If you pay attention you will know how to use the 3D laser, paying attention will allow you to use technology like 3D printers and the laser.
Mr. Hernandez also said, “Make sure to use the right materials,” "pay attention to be able use them using these materials will help you make small 3D butterflies."
In the case study Mr. Hernandez said, “We are trying to teach students to solve problems in their lives or in the community and use technology to solve those problems."
The goal isn't to build things but to learn, I learned that paying attention could make you do great stuff in the future.

lennox middle school space experiment
BY ISAIAH SHIELDS
Did you know that Lennox Middle School did a science experiment? Lennox Middle School students sent a mint plant up to space. The mint plant sent up to space grew faster than the plant left here on earth. The reason why it grew faster than the plant on earth is because it had more oxygen than the plant on earth.
When I was reading the passage they said that they had lots of oxygen and that is hard to believe to me but it could be true because I have never been there.
The rocket sent to space has special fuel. The force of the fire makes it go up and then they hit the atmosphere and they go into full take off.
